I received your email several months ago, but wanted to wait until my one year anniversary to respond. I am not sure why, it just seemed like I should. At any rate, it will be one year smoke free on December 17th. It really has been pretty easy. I am able to be around friends and coworkers who still smoke and really don’t experience a craving. I have been through several situations at work where in the past I would have used the cigarettes to get through these types of tense situations.
A friend of mine, Marc L, came to see you about a month ago. I didn’t think he would ever go see you. He has a personal trainer and is exercising regularly. He seems to be doing great!

I was already 7 weeks into a diet and successfully losing weight when I came to see Penny but I was always hungry and I had a bad attitude. I want to sincerely thank you for changing my life. I've spent years struggling with weight control, diets, inconsistent exercise and disgruntlement. My weight has always gone up and down drastically in accordance to my emotional state. I walked away from our first session with a sense of calm I don't ever remember having.
It's been three weeks and not once have I wanted to run to the frig or the vending machine for comfort. It's also been three weeks since I've had a snack and I don't want one. Typically while dieting I would dread the thought of going out to eat at a restaurant, knowing I would feel deprived. Now I actually look forward to going out. The food tastes wonderful. I'm assuming it's because I now eat slow enough to taste what I'm eating. I look forward to a glass of ice water or a piece of fruit instead of a Pepsi and a candy bar. It's the first time in my life that food isn't controlling me.
We don't even own scales because if they are around I obsess about the numbers. I don't know how much weight I've lost but within the first week my clothes were fitting better. By the second week, they were actually loose. Within the next two weeks, I believe I'll be looking at a size smaller. While I've been able to accomplish this before it took all the mental control I had and it was exhausting, within months the weight was right back. The hypnosis sessions and listening to my CD are working nicely. I haven't had much of any cravings for sweets, and I'm drinking water instead of sodas now too. Eating slower is also becoming easier. I've also noticed that I've already lost a bit of weight, because I can fit into a size smaller pair of pants. About a month ago, I posted something in my blog. I think it was a day after the first session.
June 7th, 2005: I had dinner with dad tonight at Miyako's (my favorite sushi joint where I usually eat my whole until I'm stuffed) and eating slowly for 20 minutes is actually working. The suggestions planted in my head actually worked, and I found myself putting my fork down and taking sips of water between bites. I hadn't even finished most of my meal before I became comfortably full! I also haven't had any cravings for soda either, only water.

To Whom It May Concern: I attended my first hypnosis on a Tuesday afternoon. I had been driving around for my job and sipping on a diet Pepsi. As I was driving home, I looked down to take a sip of the Pepsi but I didn't (really! without deciding not to). This was the first thing I noticed and in the days that followed I continued to eat three small meals each day. I did not desire to eat in between meals and I found myself tell friends at business lunches that I don't like to eat standing up. I have taken the time to prepare a good meal when it was just myself eating and eating slowly enough to get full quicker. My children wanted pizza one night and after slowly eating one slice I just stopped halfway through the second one. I remembered that Penny had said I would probably eat half as much as I was eating before. I ate one and a half slices of pizza when I used to eat 3!
I am now close to having lost 5 pounds and it has only been a few days. I can't wait to see where hypnosis will take me. I have dieted most of my life. I have approached my eating problems through many methods. I've tried the meetings, buying special food and diet pills. I have attended Overeater Anonymous and church based programs. Dear Penny-Thank you for your help. Before our first hypnosis session I was out of control, consuming hundreds of unnecessary calories per day. Never feeling satisfied, always guilty and packing on the pounds, I was feeling more and more depressed. Life is so hectic for me right now that I forgot to "take the time" to enjoy a meal or to "pay attention" to how much I was eating. The hypnosis helped me to slow down and pay attention, putting down my fork and really chewing/tasting my food. I feel like I have control over myself again.

After my first weight loss session, I was satisfied with half the food I used to eat or less. I no longer craved food in the evenings and have given up drinking diet soda (2 liters a day!) I never had a weight problem until menopause and heart bypass surgery. Ten to fifteen pounds gained on my 4'10" frame is quite a lot, but I just couldn't seem to lose more than two pounds, then put it right back on. It was really discouraging. When size 8 pants started to feel uncomfortable I knew I had to do something. That was about the time I went to a New Neighbors luncheon and heard you speak about hypnosis.

As the result of our hypnotism sessions I have become more focused on eating more sowly and maintaining a schedule of exercise. Not eating large portions and keeping to an exercise routine has helped me already to lose nine pounds in three weeks but have not felt any undue stress or pressure in doing so. It seems to be happening in a more natural way. There is almost no "urge" to snack between meals, and when I do so, fruit is what appeals. My progress in such a short time is strong encouragement that I will reach my goal weight.

Dear Penny, For the first time in my adult life I feel free! Free of the constant dictatorship of hunger and food cravings. Up to this point, I would continually think about, and plan what I was going to eat at my next meal or snack. Eating became so important to me that I would do errands, make appointments, etc. around eating times, always carrying a snack with me. Food was all I would think about.
Now, I feel as if someone cut me loose from this cycle. I am eating three meals, enjoying the taste of the foods, and leaving the table satisfied. I am not snacking in between meals. I have struggled with my weight and weight loss since I was a teenager. HOW HYPNOSIS HAS CHANGED MY LIFE
I have changed my eating habits entirely, I was eating way too much & now my food consumption has been cut in half and the great part of it is that I don't feel deprived. Now I only have to cook every other day and when we eat out I bring home half my meal so there is enough for another days meal. The great part of it is my husband has been watching me and is now doing exactly what I am doing which makes life easier for me.
I feel better about myself and I do have more energy. I have not touched sweets (especially chocolate), popcorn, crackers, pretzels & the list goes on (which were my downfall) since I started with Penny & that has been 2 weeks and the surprising part is I don't really miss them. We are eating more fruits & vegetables than we ever have before. I was not a big vegetable eater but I am "discovering" fruits & vegetables & I really am enjoying them. I have always eaten slow, but I am even slower now, taking smaller bites & putting my utensil down after every bite & taking a drink of water before I resume eating again & I really do enjoy the taste of food more. I have tried every "diet" there is & even though they did work after a while I was right back where I started & gained additional weight to boot. I know that this change in eating habits is for the better & will follow it for the rest of my life. It is very hard for me to lose weight especially when it comes off at only 1 pound a week, but with Penny's help, hypnosis CD & determination I will be able to do it. In the right corner of my desk drawer there are two chocolates - my favorite - dark and rich - wrapped in heavy gold foil. They have been there for 11 days! Only a few weeks ago they would have lasted seconds but now I am calm and I don't have to eat them. If I do eat them I would feel sickly and they would be not as good as the crisp celery in the refrig. I now speed through the market to the produce scouting for crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, strawberries, oranges, blackberries, bananas. I know the fruits will be good and mixed with a bit of yogurt - wonderful - better than chocolates.
From gaining a few pounds to packing on more pounds to obesity and discomfort I ate my way to friends not even recognizing me.. This is my beginning and I can do this as I know that I will not be hungry if I eat just 3 meals a day - small ones - I can select and monitor the food I eat - I can find my energy again. I had stopped excersing and find myself again making time for a short session or two bending - reaching - stretching - I don't have to continue to be fat and uncomfortable.
The chocolates reflect my new lifestyle - I don't have to eat them, they can remain in their beautiful wrappings in the corner of my desk drawer. It's OK - I really don't want them anymore.

I'm sorry I havn't e-mailed you in awhile, but I wanted to wait after I competed in my first two baton competitions. I just wanted to thank you for all of your help because I have tremendously inproved ever since I went to see you. My practices have been going excellent, and I can do no-drop solos all of the time now, and before that was impossible. My first competition of the season was at the end of january and it went really well. I didn't get nervous at all right before I went on the floor...it was really weird because normally I'm freaking out. I actually enjoyed performing my solo in front of the judge and it didn't bother me one bit. For my first solo on the floor I had 3-drops, but then for my second solo that day on the floor I had a NO-DROP routine!! I was sooo happy but shocked at the same time. That was also my first time competiting in advanced and I got 3rd place out of 6 girls for my first solo, and I got 2nd out of 6 girls for my no-drop solo. I was thirlled.
I just came back from another competition on monday that went awesome. It was a national competition at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex, and the competition was called, Twirl Mania. I competed in the advanced 13-15 pageant where I had to perform my sturt, solo, and modeling routines. Right before I went onto the floor to do my pageant solo I wasn't even thinking about doing my solo, it felt really relaxed and I didn't worry about anything. When I was doing my solo I made sure I focused on every trick in my solo that I did, and I had a 2-drops in it. I was sooo thirlled!!! By the way, those three deep breaths really helped me a lot. My strut and modeling went really good too. Overall I was expecting top ten, but I ended up getting 2nd place out of 24 girls across the nation in the advanced division!!!!! It was really unexpected and my mom and my coach are both really proud of me!!
I'm starting to really enjoy baton now, and I don't get nervous at competitions anymore, which has really helped me out a lot. Before I use to get extremely nervous every time I'd do my solo, and I would always drop everything. I still listen to your cds every week and it helps me a lot when I listen to them the night before a baton competition.

When I look at myself in the mirror I no longer look at myself as a failure, but as a beautiful person who is making very positive choices and loving herself for maybe the first time in her life. I no longer hate to exercise. I exercise every day. I am amazed at the positve meal choices that I now make. I don't drink diet drinks, bread, pasta, or candy, and I don't want to. LOL I'm so amazed at that!!!!

I had been trying to lose 10--12 pounds for the past several years. I had tried several diets such as Atkins and South Beach and would lose a few pounds only to gain them back. I had become very frustrated and my self esteem was suffering. I had read several articles on hypnosis and weight loss and was very intrigued. I decided to try hypnosis with Penny as a last resort.
Penny was very professional, informative and easy to work with. I am losing a pound a week and have already had positive comments from my husband and co-workers. Feb. 8, 2005 I have been battling my weight for many years now. It is a constant yo-yo dieting with me. This is when I decided it was time for a change. I knew of hypnosis for weight control and felt this would work for me. After seeing an article in Florida Today about Penny Hanson, I gave her a call. Immediately I was comfortable and made my appointment to meet her. I have never been hypnotized before, and was somewhat questioning about the situation. I saw your advertisement and I thought I would give hypnosis a try for weight loss. I have tried everything else to loose weight. Your suggestions are realistic, achievable, and attainable. They are easily adapted to every day life without everyone thinking you are on a "diet". Taking smaller bites gives you the opportunity to enjoy your food, it gives you the feeling of eating more food, and by taking smaller bites you get to taste all the flavors. Another great bonus of taking smaller bites I have found is I am no longer wearing my meals. Because I am not in a hurry, I am not spilling or dribbling my food all over the front of myself. A very common occurence before my first session. I have not weighed myself since our sessions but have seen a difference in my eating habits; putting down my utensils between bites, taking smaller bites and not eating chocolate all day. It has been four weeks since I began and I am very pleased with the results so far. I started Thanksgiving week, by the next session the following week I had lost weight, over Thanksgiving weekend, that's just amazing!

Thank you for helping me change some bad lifelong habits. When I was a child, I was brainwashed into believing I HAD to clean my plate because of the starving children in China. All my life, I have believed this was something I had to do. Your training is turning me around and has made me realize that it is not a sin to leave food untouched on my plate. Additionally, since I came from a large family and there was only so much food to go around, we all piled our plates as full as we could and gobbled it down so we could get more before anyone else got it. This created a lifetime habit of eating too fast. You have hleped me realize it is much better to eat slowly and to taste and enjoy my food. I had a craving for ice cream which you helped me conquer. I am still working on changing my cravings to fruits and vegetables which really do taste better instead of sugary sweets and salty junk foods.
My life has revolved around living to eat. Anytime I went somewhere, my focus was on what they would have to eat. Now, I am trying to focus on enjoying the company of other people and the stimulating conversations and activities available. I am actually avoiding the refreshment table instead of hanging around it.
I have always been tense but having my own personal CD is helping me learn to relax, breathe deeply and pay more attention to my own feelings and the needs of my body. I have always used food to relieve my tension so I am hoping this new change will cut my desire to run to the refrigerator every time I am uptight rather than indulging my overactive taste buds.

MY HYPNOSIS SUCCESS
After having my first session before Hurricane Francis, I had two days of success and lots of eating whatever in the dark for the next few days. However, I ate smaller bites, put my fork down in-between mouthfuls, and ate SO much slower! Finally, the power was restored and my next session was two weeks after my first.
Since my second session, I have lost five pounds in one week. I take at least 20 minutes to eat my meals and leave half on my plate. All my food choices have been whole fresh foods. I eat 3 times per day with a snack in the morning and one before bed. All of this is automatic as if I've been practicing this all my life. I look forward to working out in the mornings and dance at night. The CD that I listen to daily has been so calming for my hectic schedule and helps to keep me centered and focused.
I have never before experienced such instant positive results and look forward to reaching my goal weight naturally and permanently.

The primary change I have seen since beginning hypnosis has been in my eating habits. I have been making significantly better choices both at meal times and for evening snacks. Instead of rich sauces and breading I now choose salads. Instead of a starch I am much more likely to choose vegetables. Instead of ice cream or cookies, I now choose fresh fruit. The change has been subtle and without that "I'm depriving myself and I don't like it" feeling. I need to continue to work on ramping up the exercise part of the equation but I can already see weight loss and I feel really good about the changes.

On my first experience with hypnosis, I quit smoking (much to my surprise). That was over fifteen years ago. A co-worker told me she successfully lost the last ten pounds that she's been trying to lose for years, with the help of hypnosis from Penny. I could hardly believe this, but was intriqued none the less. I read an article in the local paper a couple of months ago that profiled a hypnotist named Penny Hanson, who was certified by the National Guild of Hypnotist, Inc.
The article was so well written by Billy Cox, of the Today News paper, that I called him and requested Penny’s phone number.
Well, I called and since I have never been hypnotized, I had a lot of questions to ask which she took a lot of time to answer in detail. I have a weight control problem which is one of her specialized services offered.
The weight control program requires four sessions of approximately: 45 to 1:00 hour. I was very impressed with the first meeting prior to the first session. The pre session meeting consisted of Penny taking time to get to know me and why I came to her for help. Penny was able to take notes that she would incorporate within the session to follow so that she could adequately instill new habits in the sub conscious portion of my brain.
The first session went very well and I did go under and returned feeling very rested. When I went home and at the very next meal began practicing different eating habits like: setting down the fork after putting food in my mouth and tasting it as well as enjoying the food before taking more.
Prior to each of the following sessions, Penny would review how I did during the week before, to determine which areas needed to be reinforced or added. All sessions were very comfortable and worth my thirty- five - mile drive each way.
One very important thing I left out was that with the third session Penny copied the session to a CD for me to take home and play by myself. This was as they say (icing on the cake). It has been very helpful for me to be able to take some quiet time and listen to the CD as tho I was in another session.
All is going well now I need to exercise more and continue to practice what I’ve gained thru this experience.

Just a few thoughts on the hypnosis I have received from you the last few weeks. WOW! WOW!
The first week I was very skeptical if this would work for me. I had tried everything else like all diets they worked for a little while then I would revert back to old habits. When I left your office I was still thinking to myself oh yea. This is not going to work on me. I want something to eat now, and I just left her office. Well, by the time I got home I had forgotten about eating and got busy doing something else. That was not like me at all. Food always came first. The first week I took the small bites and savored the flavor of the food and each ingredient, putting down the fork after each bite. It worked I didn't even think about food. I lost 10 pounds that week. The next week was a little harder, but I still tried to follow your advice.
The third week, it has become second nature to eat slowly, putting down the fork after each bite and not always thinking about food. I can see now I am heading for a new way of life. With that new way comes losing pounds slowly and forever. THank you for giving me back my life. I can see now I am going to enjoy more things and be able to do more things.

Before going to Penny Hanson, I had been on every diet know to man and I failed at every one of them.
Exercise was a dirty word. I used my total knee replacement as an excuse for not walking outside.
What if I fall? It’s too hot, etc. I finally went out and bought a treadmill that does everything
except pick me up and put me on it! I hated it and dreaded using it. I saw Penny’s article in the
paper and called immediately. We set up four appointments. After my second session, I’d already
lost 13.8 pounds just by following her simple suggestions, such as eating slowly, savoring every bite,
putting my utensils down between bites and pushing my plate away with food still on it.
With a few helpful suggestions from Penny (believe this or not), I use my treadmill at least four
times a week, listening to good rock music. I started walking one mile a day, and I’m now doing one
and a half miles, working towards two miles. I’m starting to see some definition in my body and a
change in the way my clothes fit. Hypnosis keeps me less stressed and much more relaxed. It’s given
me a totally new outlook on my life. I’m going to succeed this time because of Hypnosis and Penny,
my newfound friend.

I think it is fantastic, I don't know how you did it but you did, I am taking it one day at a time,

do some shopping, threw my light and cigs in the trash, when I got home did the same thing with the
ones I had on the patio table and didn't feel any remorse, driving home I had this weird feeling like

I think it was the month of April, when the article in the paper helped change me, to be at peace with myself and have the confidence to go through with hypnosis with Penny Hanson. I want to start this by saying I am a 69 year old lady that has been trying to lose
weight for 59 years. Each diet ended in failure and more weight. I just got on the scale and I have lost
5 pounds in three weeks and I feel great. No headaches or hunger pains or just plain feeling lousy. What
